COMPUTER SKILLS – BEGINNER

Our entry level course is ideal for those who have little or no computing experience and would like to gain confidence in using computers and the latest computing technology.

This course is also free to study for eligible adults.

During this course, you will work towards the Pearson Entry Level Certificate. You will develop the ability to use IT systems sensibly and purposefully to meet needs, to do so safely and securely in line with your organisational guidelines.

• Skills for Learning
• Organising, storing and retrieving appropriately
• Set up an email account
• Understanding the need for safety and security practices
• Find out about the dangers of online content and set up child safety and manage the content settings on a Wi-Fi controller
• Outline online security for making purchases online and demonstrate to the class how to make a safe purchase.
• Maintaining systems and responding to common IT system problems
• Inputting text and editing word processing documents
• Structuring information within word processing documents
• Using word processing software tools to format and present documents
• Using browser tools to navigate webpages
• Using browser tools to search for information from the internet and save webpages
• Using software to complete online forms
• Following and understanding the need for safety and security practices when working online
• Using email software to compose and send messages including attaching items
• Managing and responding to incoming emails
• Responding to common problems when using email
