Support and Enrichment Coach (Fixed Term Contract to July 2022)

SALARY: up to £22,000 depending on experience, plus pension and performance-related pay

LOCATION: Working across Stevenage and Hitchin and all other sites

This role provides general support to all students and apprentices but holds overall responsibility for supporting our care leavers. Working with the Virtual School, you will ensure that our care leavers access the support and key activities they need to be successful. Through a multi-agency approach, you will be the main point of contact for this cohort and attend and contribute to external and internal progress meetings.

Alongside this, you will take the lead for the college-wide enrichment programme. This will involve relationship building with external organisations, organising activities and working with staff to build a high quality enrichment offer which meets the diverse needs of all students.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Motivated, driven and committed to consistently achieving KPI targets.
  • Effective management of time and diary
  • Excellent communication skills including experience of working with the 16-19 age group
  • Professional ‘can do’ approach to working with a variety of staff and employers
  • Experience of supporting 16-19 age group and an understanding of care leavers beneficial but not essential

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Being the first point of contact for all care leavers
  • To maintain accurate records of all student interventions in accordance with departmental procedures
  • Attending curriculum and PEP meetings with key professionals to discuss progress
  • Working alongside the wider support team to provide support and cover where required
  • Hosting induction sessions and general support session throughout the year
  • Working with Virtual School to meet the needs of each care leaver
  • Working 1:1 with students who need extra support
  • Identifying achievement gaps and looking for ways to improve outcomes
  • Support the finance officer where appropriate to award student bursary, learner support fund and free college meals
  • To provide information to prospective students at open days/evenings
  • Working with organisations to secure relevant enrichment activities
  • Working with curriculum and the Head of Student Experience to organise large trips
  • Completing risk assessments and paperwork relevant to enrichment opportunities
  • Producing regular reports on progress
