SALARY: FTE £20,000-£23,000

JOB TYPE: Term time only

Hours: 38 weeks per year

LOCATION: Stevenage, ECC and Hitchin

 

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide outstanding in-class support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities helping them to become independent and confident learners.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • A level 2 or equivalent qualification in English and maths.
  • An Understanding of E&D, safeguarding, High Needs Funding and the Education Health Care Plan.
  • Experience of working with young people with SEN, Autism and particularly SEMH.
  • Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience of supporting learning in a teaching environment.
  • An understanding of specific learning difficulties and physical impairments.
  • A can-do attitude and a willingness to work within a team.
  • A calm and positive approach to supporting young people.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with young people and other staff members.
  • Trained in STEPs desirable but relevant experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience of using a range of Microsoft office applications.
  • Ability to travel between sites.

 

 

 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Inclusion Assistant will be asked to complete all Additional Learning Support paperwork and Curriculum Student Reviews.
  • Recommend and utilise specialist assistive technology to support teaching and learning and promote independence for the student
  • May be asked to assist with personal care and aid mobility, under the guidance of a Student Care Plan
  • The Inclusion assistant may be asked to carry out some out of class revision sessions with students when required.
  • The Inclusion Assistant will be expected to participate in training in line with college requirements.
