JOB PURPOSE:

To provide efficient and effective support to the Estates Manager at The Thomas Alleyne Academy. The role will involve working on your own areas of responsibility and projects in addition to general caretaking duties.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Previous proven experience in a similar environment
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • Excellent organisational, time management, team working, and prioritisation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of Building Maintenance
  • Proven experience of health and safety matters.
  • Computer literate and proficient in using online systems.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekend when needed
  • Proven experience in lone working and problem solving
  • A highly motivated individual with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • A full driving licence
  • A good level of spoken English

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deputise for the Estates Manager in relation to estates matters, and undertake any additional tasks as may be required to support them in their role.
  • Perform essential caretaking duties as required, working with the other members of the estates team to ensure that regular roles and duties are carried out in a diligent and professional manner.
  • Assist the Estates Manager with coordinating the maintenance needs of the site.
  • Assist with preparing purchase orders and chasing up invoices and payment in accordance with agreed timescales.
  • Be fully conversant in the opening, closing and operation of the site.
  • Keep and manage an effective log of all building maintenance issues on allocated sites, escalating repeat issues as necessary.
  • Ensure that the site is safe, in times of seasonal weather, and of outstanding appearance, and that all internal and external areas are well maintained.
  • Contribute positively and proactively to cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Deputise for the Estates Manager during the evacuation of buildings if required.
  • Support whole-school activities such as open evenings/days, internal & external events by working with stakeholders to provide outstanding results.
  • Manage and liaise with all external lettings contacts.
  • To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, other relevant legislation and academy policies.
  • To understand and comply with the Group equal opportunities policy.
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.
