JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking for outstanding Inclusion Assistants to join our team, who committed to supporting their students and developing their independence. The ideal candidates will have experience of working with young people with ADHD, SEN, Autism and particularly SEMH. 

To provide outstanding in-class support for students with learning difficulties, disabilities and behavioural issues, helping them to become independent and confident learners.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • A level 2 or equivalent qualification in English and maths.
  • An Understanding of E&D, safeguarding, High Needs Funding and the Education Health Care Plan.
  • Experience of working with young people with SEN, Autism and particularly SEMH.
  • Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience dealing with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience of supporting learning in a teaching environment.
  • An understanding of specific learning difficulties and physical impairments.
  • A can-do attitude and a willingness to work within a team.
  • A calm and positive approach to supporting young people.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with young people and other staff members.
  • Trained in STEPs desirable but relevant experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge and experience of using a range of Microsoft office applications.
  • Ability to travel between sites.

 

 

 

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Inclusion Assistant will be asked to complete all Additional Learning Support paperwork and Curriculum Student Reviews.
  • Recommend and utilise specialist assistive technology to support teaching and learning and promote independence for the student
  • May be asked to assist with personal care and aid mobility, under the guidance of a Student Care Plan
  • The Inclusion assistant may be asked to carry out some out of class revision sessions with students when required.
  • The Inclusion Assistant will be expected to participate in training in line with college requirements.
