The Hotel Cromwell in Stevenage has pledged to support the NHC’s Give a Future campaign by offering a number of student experiences for Catering and Hospitality students.
Students will be given opportunities to get invaluable experience of what it takes to run a successful hotel, even within the current restrictions in place, through a series of online video workshops delivered in the classroom from key team members at Hotel Cromwell.
The Hotel has provided NHC students in the past with fantastic opportunities to fulfil their career aspirations.
Dean Thompson, General Manager of the Hotel Cromwell, said:
“I have worked with North Hertfordshire College since my arrival at the Hotel Cromwell in 2016. We went through a complete refurbishment and welcomed work experience students since 2017 in both front of house and the kitchen.
“My ethos in my team is to improve and develop and all my managers focus on this in their training of young people. I employ people to send them on a journey to improve their position and salary.
“In my view this starts with students. Give them a taste of this business where they can learn and see what they can achieve and then we hope that when their studies end, they will want to come and work with us. Therefore, this aids our recruitment process in the future.
“I look forward to working with North Hertfordshire College for many years to come!”
For one student, Jordan Addis, this dream has become a reality after his work experience placement at Hotel Cromwell turned into employment at the hotel following the completion of his course.
Jordan Addis completed his work experience placement, working front of house at Hotel Cromwell during his Level 2 Catering and Hospitality programme. He proved to be a real asset to the team and was offered a part-time position while he completed his Level 3 qualification. Once he had completed his studies at college he has continued to work at Hotel Cromwell and begin his career.
