Step 1: Start Your Application
The easiest way to apply is online. Just head to www.nhc.ac.uk/study to look at our range of courses and see what takes your fancy. When you’ve found a course you’d like to study, simply click the ‘Apply For This Course’ button. This will take you to our application portal, where you’ll need to create an account using your personal email address.
Want to keep your options open? You can apply for multiple courses with us and make the final decision on what to study during enrolment – but please use the same email address for each application.
Step 2: Chat To Our Team
Once you’ve submitted your application, we’ll arrange an interview with you as soon as we can. This meeting is an opportunity for us to check that the course you’ve applied for is right for you, and it’s also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have.
We’ll remind you of what you need to bring with you when we invite you to the interview, as there may be some additional requirements for some of our courses.
Step 3: Confirm Your Place @ NHC
After your interview, we’ll write to you to offer you a place. This will be either a conditional or unconditional offer.
A conditional offer means you have to meet some requirements, such as achieving a certain grade in your GCSEs or providing a reference, before you can start your course.
An unconditional offer means you’re accepted onto our course and can enrol.
Step 4: Keep In Touch
We know that starting college is a big step and will feel very different from school. We want you to feel as familiar and comfortable as possible with college life before you enrol.
That’s why we’ll keep in touch with you before you start studying here at North Hertfordshire College. We’ll send you regular email newsletters with the latest NHC news (and even the occasional WhatsApp message!) to help you prepare for this next step in your education journey.
Step 5: Enrolment
This is it – the big one. This is the moment you officially become an NHC student, and it typically takes place at the end of August following GCSE results day. We’ll let you know the exact dates nearer to the time.
Don’t worry if you don’t get the grades you were hoping for. Our expert teams will work with you to find a course that’s right for you and helps you reach your dream destination – whether that’s a specific career path, university, or an apprenticeship.
