These loans are available to students who are 19 or over at the start of their full- or part-time Level 3 or above course. They can be used to cover either the entire total of your tuition fees, or to pay for part of them.
Most learners aged 19 or over who are studying at Level 3 to 6 are eligible to apply for these loans from the UK government. Your household income does not influence your ability to apply, and there’s no credit check required.
You also won’t have to pay anything back until you reach the repayment threshold. You can find out more about repayments via Student Finance England.
Student Finance England (SFE) pay your tuition fees to the college once your course has started and we’ve confirmed your attendance on it. Your loan will then start to accrue from this date.
You’ll only start repaying the loan in the April after you’ve finished your course, once you reach the repayment threshold. You can find out more about this on the Government’s Student Loan page.
