If you know you want to start a career in the healthcare sector, particularly in adult nursing, then a T Level in Adult Nursing is a great choice for you.

T Levels will help you build the core skills, knowledge, and experiences you need for success in the sector. Designed in collaboration with employers, these two-year courses provide an alternative option to A Levels and apprenticeships by combining classroom theory, practical learning, and industry experience into one unique learning opportunity.

This course is assessed through:

  • Two paper-based externally-set exams
  • One employer-set project
  • A variety of synoptic assessments throughout the course

  • Core concepts covering physics, chemistry, biology, genetics, and microbiology
  • Further science concepts covering anatomy & physiology, epidemiology, classification of diseases & disorders, injury & trauma, and health promotion

Specialist Occupational Learning

  • Supporting individuals to meet activities of daily living
  • Assisting the adult nursing team with clinical tasks
  • Supporting wellbeing in relation to nutrition and hydration
  • Use of clinical and emergency equipment
  • Demonstrating a person-centred approach
  • Supporting clinical assessments and observations, including assisting with skin-integrity assessments and the care and treatment of skin conditions

Employer Set Project

This project will be related to your core learning. You’ll face a challenge from the healthcare sector – as identified by employers themselves! You’ll put your knowledge into practice as you work to research, design, test, and evaluate a solution to the challenge.

Industry Placement

As part of your T Level, you’ll complete a minimum of 45 days of industry placement in a real clinical setting including local hospitals, hospices, and other healthcare settings. Here you’ll develop specific skills and get to grips with the real world of work.
