This course offers a practical hands-on approach to studying science, developing industry-ready skills as well as an understanding of the core principles.

HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN

Your course will be a mix of classroom-based, laboratory experience and workplace sessions with employers. You will spend lots of time in the lab and gain high-level laboratory skills. You will learn topics related to the:

  • Principles and applications of science;
  • Forensic scientific procedures and techniques;
  • Criminology;
  • Forensic psychology;
  • and applied forensic sciences.

You will also complete work experience with science industry employers to give you the full set of skills for employment or university. Our forensic courses include lots of opportunities for you to get hands-on experience of the world of work, including:

  • Work experience with organisations like Hertfordshire Police, Bedford hospital (pathology), Fosters Legal (Law), Leeds Becket university (Psychology) and GSK (Leaders in Science)
  • Regular trips to science industry employers
  • Engagement with guest speakers from universities and businesses like the University of Hertfordshire, Stevenage BioScience Catalyst and NHS Trusts
  • Opportunities to attend major national events and present research projects to peers and sector experts at major events such as the second annual Health & Science Symposium
