Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including maths and English, trade specific experience or a trade relevant level 1 qualification with maths and English at grade 3 or above (or Functional Skills level 1 or above).

You will also be invited to attend an interview.

Future Study and Careers

Level 2 Diploma in Trowel Occupations or a level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying.

You can apply for a range of jobs in the construction industry as a bricklayer.

IS THIS FOR ME?

This course is suitable for learners who have successfully completed the level 1 Bricklaying course or have specific Bricklaying experience.

You should have an interest in Bricklaying and want to explore potential careers in the trade.

HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN

Your course will be a mix of classroom-based theory sessions and workshop sessions that explore practical skills.

Topics include interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures; producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding; building solid walling, isolated and attached piers; and, constructing cavity walling to form masonry structures.

You will hone relevant workplace skills such as building rapport with others and problem-solving.

You will also complete maths and English qualifications to grade 4 if you haven’t got them already as they are essential in this industry.
