Entry Requirements

16-18 year olds can have a level 1 qualification in beauty therapy or GCSE English at grade 4 or above plus, four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including maths or, Functional Skills level 1 or above) and obtain a positive school reference

For mature students, applicants must demonstrate a keen interest in the industry and will be invited to attend an interview and obtain a positive reference.

Future Study

Level 3 Beauty Therapy Techniques and level 3 Theatrical and Media Makeup.

You can apply for jobs in the beauty industry including salons, health farms and spas.

What you need to know

IS THIS FOR ME?

This course is for you if you have an interest and / or passion for the beauty industry and want to explore potential careers.

It is designed as a progression from the level 1 certificate in beauty therapy, or for adult learners looking for a new career.

HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN

Your course will be a mix of salon, classroom and workshop sessions that explore practical skills, working with employers and the local community and work experience.

Course content includes client care and communication, health and safety, facials, waxing, manicure and pedicure, promoting products and services, cosmetic makeup and eye treatments, anatomy and physiology and reception skills.

You will hone relevant workplace skills such as client care, wider communication and commercial skills and problem-solving.

If you are 16-18 you will also complete maths and English qualifications to grade 4 if you haven’t got them, as they are essential in this industry.

Please note: There will be an additional cost for uniform and kit at approx £500. The course tutor will be able to provide you with further advice and guidance about this.
