As you work through the levels of our pathway, you’ll take on more responsibilities and learn advanced techniques to prepare you for the industry. This includes supervising front-of-house, managing bookings, and organising functions in our on-site luxury restaurant, The Meadows.
North Hertfordshire College’s Hospitality & Catering learners have a rich history in competing (and winning!) throughout the academic year in regional and national competitions to showcase their skills. This is a great opportunity to enhance your CV as well as increase your confidence in your abilities.
Work experience is built into this course, and we’re proud to work with a range of venues and establishments to help you build a broader understanding of how the sector works. Entry Requirements
For Level 1 Culinary Skills, we require maths and English qualifications at grades 1-3 and a positive reference.
For Level 1 Professional Cookery, a minimum of three GCSEs at grade 3 or above are required. This includes English and science GCSEs. We also require a positive school reference.
For Level 2 Food & Beverage, a minimum of four GCSEs are required at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.
For Level 2 Professional Cookery, successful completion of Level 1 Professional Cookery is required, or a minimum of three years working in the industry.
For Level 3 courses, you must first have successfully completed a Level 2 qualification and also have maths and English qualifications at grade 4 or above.
