What you need to know

IS THIS FOR ME?

This is an intermediate course will give you a thorough understanding of sewing and garment construction methods, used in the industry today.

HOW AND WHAT WILL I LEARN?

You will learn how to use a commercial pattern to plan, cut and make a garment of your choice according to your ability

On this course you will be taught:

  • Choose a pattern for your skill level
  • Pick suitable fabric for your style
  • Take and record body measurements
  • Customise your pattern for better fit
  • Plan and cut your pattern pieces
  • Transfer pattern markings to fabric
  • Neaten raw edges inside your garment
  • Follow pattern instructions
  • Construct your garment

You will learn through group work, demonstrations, sample-making and independent construction of your own garment.

This course is suitable for those who have previously attended a course on using a sewing machine or those who have some previous sewing experience.
