The course is taught in a fun, relaxed environment, suitable for complete beginners who have a keen interest in True Crime and wish to take a deep dive into the topic with like-minded people.

HOW AND WHAT WILLI LEARN?

Criminal psychology is the study of the thoughts and behaviour of criminals. It answers the question: why do criminals do what they do? What shapes their personality, is it a case of personality disorders or life experiences?

This course will introduce you to the psychological explanations of criminal behaviour, take a look at eyewitness testimony and offender profiling, examine why people make false confessions finishing with a look at famous criminals and what may have caused them to kill.

Topics covered include:

  1. Introduction to criminal psychology
  2. Biological and psychological explanation of criminal behaviour
  3. Personality disorders/characteristics
  4. Forgetting and reconstructing memory when recalling witness statements
  5. Take a journey into the psychological profiles of famous criminals
