Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths and English or a level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area passed with merit or distinction with maths and English at grade 9-4 (or Functional Skills level 2 or above).
You will also be invited to attend an interview.

This course is for you if you are interested in progressing into public service roles or are interested in studying social science-based disciplines at University. You will look in detail at how the sector works and develop a deep understanding of what it takes to be successful in the industry developing fundamental skills and knowledge.
Over the course of this two-year programme, you will access inspirational teaching sessions to help you understand important topics within the Uniformed Protective Services.
You will study Citizenship and Diversity, Behaviour and Discipline in the Uniformed Protective Services, Global Affairs and Media, Physical Preparation Health and Wellbeing, Teamwork Leadership and Communication, Government, and Responding to Emergency Incidents- among others.
You will be predominantly assessed through a variety of coursework opportunities ranging from essays, group presentations, or posters. For two units you will sit an exam that will test your knowledge in the year on the key components required to be successful.
As part of your qualification, you will be required to complete a Work Experience Placement which will provide you with a real and meaningful insight into the industry.
Students who successfully complete two years of this programme will achieve a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Protective Services the equivalent of three A-Levels. The first year of the programme is the equivalent of a BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma. All students will be enrolled on the Foundation Diploma initially for their first year and then be ‘topped-up’ to the Extended Diploma as they enter their second year.
