Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths and English or a level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area passed with merit or distinction with maths and English at grade 9-4 (or Functional Skills level 2 or above).
You will also be invited to attend an interview.
Future Study and Careers
Level 3 Children’s Play Learning and Development if you have achieved your GCSE maths and English at grade 4.
This course is for you if you have an interest and / or passion for children and want to explore potential careers.
You will look in detail at the different parts of the industry: providing activities to support children’s needs, supporting children’s numeracy and literacy and developing your personal progression plan.
Your course will be a mix of classroom-based theory sessions, workshop sessions that explore practical skills and project working with employers and the local community.
You will also complete 280 hours of work experience and complete an assessed portfolio of evidence during your work placement.
You will develop skills such as observing children through play, understanding health and safety requirements and how to plan and prepare activities for young children.
You will look at the role of an early years practitioner and how to apply practice in the workplace.
