This one-year course will give you the skills and knowledge so you can apply for degree-level study in counselling and related subjects.
Some of the degree subjects you can progress on to study include: counselling, social psychology, psychosocial studies, and psychology.
Please note that the Access to HE Diploma in Counselling itself does not qualify you to become a counsellor.
The course is suitable for adults who are committed to enhancing their educational skills and career prospects.
This course is delivered two days onsite, with one day online every 5-6 weeks.
It is perfect for people interested in getting back into study and enhancing their professional prospects.
You will study three specialist subjects every week: Counselling Fundamentals, Psychology, and Counselling in Context.
Additionally, you will study a range of units designed to develop higher education skills and those wider skills required for your future professions.

Entry Requirements
You must be at least 19 years old.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but, to ensure the course is right for you at this time, you will be asked to attend an Access Fast Track event at our Stevenage campus. This event will give you the opportunity to hear more about the course and includes a couple of short maths and English tests to help us understand your current abilities. This event will also include a short informal interview.
Whilst most universities will accept the Access to HE Diploma for their undergraduate courses, they may also ask that you have achieved your GCSEs/Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English. Some courses may also require a GCSE in Science.
