Our Supported Interns are always busy engaging with the local community. From impressing staff on their work placements, running their own stall in the Indoor Market, volunteering with local charities, or planning big community events – it’s hard to keep up!
December brought yet more exciting Internship activities, like the incredible Santa’s Gift Giving event.
One of our fantastic Supported Interns, Amber, came up with the idea of running a gift-giving event for the children who were in Lister Hospital over the festive period.
The team of enthusiastic Interns pitched their idea to the college Senior Leadership Team and liaised with the Lister Hospital’s charity department – then, it was all systems go to secure some presents to distribute within the children’s ward!
Our Interns started their mission by approaching lots of local businesses, family members and the wider community for gift donations. After a whole month of gathering presents, our students then arranged a minibus to deliver the (many!) presents to Lister Hospital, ready for the event.
On Monday 16th December, the team visited the Lister Hospital to help distribute the generous donations – putting a smile on everyone’s faces!
A huge well done to our fantastic Supported Interns for spreading festive cheer:

Zion, Supported Intern and one of the event coordinators said:
“I wanted to bring a little joy and happiness to the children.”
Carlie, Tutor, added:
“It has been a great experience for the students, and I am sure the gifts they have collected will bring a lot of joy!”
We are super proud of the generous efforts of our Supported Interns and the impact they’re having on our local community.
