Your Academies

Community and Health Services Academy

The Community and Health Services Academy provides courses in a wide range of areas including health and social care, childhood studies (from entry level to Foundation Degree); Skills for Life (literacy and numeracy skills for adults in the community and workplace), supported studies (provision for those with learning disabilities and/or physical and learning disabilities), alongside leisure courses and a variety of part time qualification courses within the local community.

Sixth Form Academy

The Sixth Form Academy has a focus on academic courses with substantial programmes in A levels and Access (to higher education), alongside courses with a significant vocational bias such as business studies, business administration and counselling. As part of the college’s consortium with the
University of Hertfordshire, there is a large cohort of extended degree science learners who progress to a number of degree courses in science at the University. The academy also provides evening courses in modern foreign languages and British Sign Language (BSL).

Sports, Travel and Public Services Academy

The Sports, Travel and Public Services Academy runs BTEC vocational courses in sports including the Foundation Degree in Sports Studies. The academy is a Centre of Vocational Excellence and promotes adult coaching and fitness courses, working with over 500 employers. Along with providing
vocational courses for the Uniformed Public Services sector for those learners wishing to join the forces and uniformed services, the academy is responsible for health and wellbeing across the college and manages the learner enrichment programme.

Creative and Cultural Industries Academy

The Creative and Cultural Industries Academy offers a wide range of vocational courses within hairdressing; beauty; art, design and media; performing arts and catering, for all ages. The academy also welcomes clients into the hair and beauty salons, the restaurant and the bistro, where
learners work in a commercial environment.

Technology Services Academy

The Technology Services Academy offers a wide range of programmes and progression opportunities for all backgrounds and abilities. The provision includes full and part time courses in IT, construction and motor vehicle studies. Foundation Degrees in computing and business are offered in
association with the University of Hertfordshire and a variety of IT programmes are delivered flexibly through the college’s computer learning shops.

Employment Services Academy

The Employment Services Academy provides services to employers and employed learners which include training in the workplace, Train to Gain, apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships and employment training. They also offer courses in distance learning, entry to employment and management and professional qualifications.
