We think it’s our job to help you get where you want to be in life. That means helping you build your skills and knowledge in your chosen sector area – whether that’s catering, engineering or science. It also means helping you make sure that you’ve got the broader set of skills that your future employers will expect of you – including maths and English.
Whichever course you choose, we’ll help you improve your maths and English. We know that many students don’t enjoy maths and English. You might have had a bad experience at school, or not think that maths and English are relevant to your career plans.
Our tutors will help you think about how maths and English are relevant to your chosen career – and how they’ll help you lead a happy, independent, life as an adult. All study programme students will have three hours of maths and English lessons each week.
We’ll use a simple initial assessment process to make sure that you follow the right maths and English qualifications for you.
If you have Grade E-G at GCSE, you’ll do a Functional Skills qualification at the right level for you.
If you have a Grade D at GCSE, you’ll continue to study GCSE maths and / English to help you get an A*-C.
If you’ve already got a Grade C or above, we’ll help you.
We work really hard to make maths and English lessons fun, interesting and relevant to you. Your tutors will also help you improve your maths and English as part of your main vocational qualification, making sure that you’ve got the specific maths and English skills required to progress in your chosen career. We run lots of activities and competitions to reward you for your attendance and engagement with maths and English. Equally you won’t be allowed to continue attending vocational lessons if you’re not actively engaging with maths and English.
