Paige MacKay - Business Administration Apprentice
“For me an Apprenticeship was the best way to go; you get to study and work at the same time which it is a bonus because you earn your own money while you are still learning.”
My aims when I started at NHC were to get a qualification in Business Administration and then successfully gain full-time work. During the two years of my studies, I have achieved both these goals and more.
My Business Administration course was brilliant in preparing me for a real job. At the same time, NHC gave me lots of opportunities to gain work experience, for example, a voluntary work placement and a placement in an administration-based environment within the College. These gave me a lot of useful work-related experiences.
The Apprenticeship team helped me to find a job related to my studies and I have been working at the Skills Centre as an Administration/Reception apprentice ever since. I gained a lot of confidence and experience to be able to work comfortably and effectively in an office environment; now my main goal is to have a successful career, so I have decided to complete my Business & Administration third year, because I think that studying and working are key for success.
I would definitely recommend studying to gain a qualification in something you like. It also makes it much easier to secure a full time job. If I had to make the choice again I would definitely choose NHC.
