International Spotlight For NHC’S Student Fashionistas

A stunning collection of eight original garments designed and produced by the NHC students were revealed live on-stage on the “College Catwalk”, running throughout the show, and also displayed on a stand designed and run by the students. Taking “The Decorative Spirit” as its theme, this collection drew inspiration from the Victorian approach to rich and decorative architecture that remains a major factor in today’s creative environment.

As a major element of the North Hertfordshire students' programme of study, research produced an extensive wealth of imagery and varying perspectives that students drew on for individual inspiration. The results, both on the catwalk and displayed on the stand, were judged to be among the most outstanding student creations.
Karin Kus, NHC Deputy Director of Art and Design, said: "For the ninth year running, being invited to show our work at the show has given us an international spotlight for the developing talents and inspiration of our students. For them to be involved so early in their careers at this prominent and professional level within the fashion industry, at the world’s largest fashion and beauty event, is inspirational for them individually and for everyone at NHC."

The participating students were Luke Archer, Hitchin; Arjola Brami, Welwyn Garden City; Nicki Brooks, Stevenage; Abigail Foster, Hertford; Farhana Rahman, Hertford; Amy Phillips, Hitchin; Raajveer Phull, Letchworth; Elaine Keohane, Letchworth; Maria Michael, Cockfosters; Debra van Eerde, Stevenage; Alexandra Wall, Charlton
