Business Case
The Business Case
NHC has recently restructured (with the support of external consultants SHM Ltd) to create greater balance, influence and equality of contribution across all of its service areas. The predominance of “teaching” and its importance to our college had created a situation where the service functions were more subservient to the teaching function than equal partners in the development of a vibrant learning organisation.
To review new more balanced organisation structure go to link to FOI The Business Case for this change was wholly supported by the Board of Corporation and our workforce. The Business Case for Equality & Diversity is also recognised and promoted by the NHC Board. By putting equality and diversity at the forefront of our objective to become a Beacon College by 2011 we are explicit in stating the business benefits to our college. These are:
• Enhanced competitiveness – attracting and training employees who understand needs of diverse learning community.
• Improved success rates – creating an environment where barriers to learning are addressed positively by employees who know how to spot these and address them.
• Improved customer services – service staff who can deal effectively with the diverse needs of enquirers and those seeking added value from their NHC experience.
• Increase market share – attractive diverse student communication.
• Investing in People – use of internationally recognised standards to demonstrate quality of employment practice.
• Reduced risk of costly tribunals through effective compliance with anti discriminatory legislation.
