It is important to us that you feel involved and consulted every step of the way in your learning process. The ‘Learner Voice’ is our commitment to seeking your views and ensures that they inform us in the decision making processes linked with enhancing your learning experiences at NHC College.
As part of this agenda we make a commitment to:
• inform you of relevant initiatives, changes and key events
• consult with you for your ideas and feedback, where applicable
• involve you in the debate to ensure that your points of view are gained, understood and taken into consideration
• collaborate with you as part of the decision making process.
This process will assist and empower you to take effective ownership of your own learning personalised experience at this college.
So, how can you get INVOLVED in the ‘Learner Voice’ process?
You can get involved in a number of ways;
• Become a College Representative and liaise with your classmates, feeding back the issues that matter to them. These views can then be taken to the Student Council and Parliament that meet throughout the year.
• Stand for a position on the Students Union Executive Committee which ranges from Global President to Entertainments Officer. This gives you the chance to influence and shape what we provide for you as a learner.
• Be active in the Learner Focus Groups which meet throughout the year. Focus groups facilitate meetings with tutors, senior management and external College partners to move on issues lined with the general management of the curriculum and service delivery.
• Join a College Committee. Learners are encouraged to be active in a number of College Committees such as Health & Safety and Sustainability.
Opportunities for discussion and debate are open to all – you can talk to your personal tutor, Course Representative, Learner Services or the Students’ Union. We value your comments as this helps us to devise excellent support services in order that you have a very positive learning experience with the College.
