Olympic athlete Larry Achike visited NHC students this week to talk about his experiences and excitement about being involved in this year’s Olympic Games and to encourage students to get involved via the Bridging the Gap initiative.
Bridging the Gap (BTG) is a project designed to equip 8,000 young people with the necessary qualifications to create the security force required for London 2012. Students who complete the event stewarding and door supervision qualifications as part of the BTG initiative will be guaranteed an interview with G4S, the company responsible for providing security at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Larry spoke to Childcare, Business, Motor Vehicle and Bricklaying students about the motivation techniques he uses within his athletics, which he also employed to achieve his degree qualification.
Larry shared his excitement in being part of this year’s Olympic Games and encouraged all students to get involved in the Bridging the Gap project and be part of the national event that we are unlikely to see in UK again in our lifetime.
