What qualifications or skills will I need to have to get on the courses?

Double Award Science GCSE grade double C or single science Physics grade C, English and Maths GCSE grade C plus any other GCSEs to give a total of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above. Other relevant experiences may be accepted instead.

What does the course involve?

The AS Physics is a one year course and if successful you may continue in the second year to a full A-level. It may be studied as part of a full-time A-level programme or as a part-time qualification.
There is a large practical component to the course. You will carry out a range of practical activities and learn how to record your data and express the precision of the final results and relate your results to the theory that you have learnt. There are practical assessments and written exams.

What options will be open to me if I successfully complete the course?

University degree in physics, astrophysics, engineering. Practical based training including modern apprenticeships. Other requirements may need to be satisfied and you should check what the course or career you want to progress to requires. The skills learnt are also valued by many employers.
