Working at a minimum of Entry Level 3 through to Level 2 (GCSE A-C equivalent). The programme can be tailored to suit a range of academic abilities and in some cases a bespoke timetable is put in place.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Springboard is a one year full-time personalised learning programme for young people aged 16-24 who require additional specialist support before progressing to college or employment. Many of our students have a diagnosis or traits of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and sometimes emotional, behavioural and mental health needs. The programme offers students the opportunity to develop skills in social communication, independence, English, maths and employability. Students develop the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their future career path and ultimately to progress into work.
At Springboard students learn through a variety of physical activity, participation in group projects, work experience and academic study. This programme will include the following areas of study:
Employability: Searching for a job, applying for a job, preparing for an interview, interview skills, working in a team, work experience.
Personal wellbeing: Interpersonal communication skills, healthy lifestyles, staying safe in the community and online, valuing equality & diversity and citizenship.
Functional skills: Maths, English and ICT
Group art therapy: Exploring anxiety and emotional difficulties
Group dramatherapy: Developing confidence in a group and exploring social situations
HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
Students can take exams in Functional Skills English, maths and ICT from Entry Level 3 up to Level 2 (GCSE equivalent).
Students complete a Level 1 Award in Personal Well-Being and an Award or Certificate in Employability at Level 1 or Level 2 are portfolio-based and externally verified.
WHAT YOU CAN DO NEXT
On completion of the programme, students generally progress onto a mainstream college course. They may also move straight in to employment, an apprenticeship, traineeship or Supported Internship. Students are supported on transition from Springboard and until they are settled in their next placement.
