Introduction
The Community and Health Services Academy is dynamic and versatile in its approach to learning across a number of diverse curriculum areas with common underlying themes.
The Community and Health Services Academy support those who aspire to employment and improve their skills in the home or workplace.
The academy also supports learning for those with learning disabilities, along with providing full and part time courses for those wishing to join the health, care or childcare professions.
The academy provides a step ladder approach to adult learning, giving clear progression routes for people to move to adult, part-time qualification programmes. We focus on high quality provision, delivered by skilled teachers.
The Supported Studies section offers a range of full and part time courses for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.
The courses aim to develop learners ' pre-vocational skills, self confidence, social and life skills employability skills and practical and basic skills.
Adult and Community Learning
North Hertfordshire College has a long established commitment to adult and community learning.
For our new and existing learners this year, we aim to provide opportunities to try a wide range of subjects delivered in a way that can be fitted into a busy lifestyle.
Our one day workshops are offered on Saturdays, there are clubs where you can share and grow your talents, courses to experience something new, or you can return to learning and gain a qualification to enhance your career opportunities.
You can even bring your little ones and enjoy learning together! In addition to our main college centres, courses are also offered in a large number of venues across Stevenage and North Hertfordshire.
Have you ever consider a career caring for people, for example, nursing, social work, youth work, health care assistant or support worker.
A course in health and social care gives you the opportunity to explore topics such as nutrition, human biology, equality and diversity, as well as span development, sociology and psychology.
These will prepare you for further study at university or a career in health and social care.
Are you interested in childcare or playwork? We offer nationally recognised full and part time qualifications to enable people to work in the childcare sector.
Employment Training offers a range of skills courses aimed at building confidence and gaining qualifications for those returning to work, to change jobs or to develop a new career path.
