Access to Higher Education students at NHC organised a highly successful Social Science conference for NHC students, local 6th form pupils and students from Hertford Regional College. Key note speakers at the event included university academic staff, experts and professionals working within the fields of psychology and sociology.
Access student Rachael Brown explained: “The conference aim was to inspire students planning to pursue a career in the social sciences and show how the theories they have learnt in class are applied in the real world.”
A Level Sociology pupils from Hitchin Girls’ School attended the conference, Serene Esuruoso, 17 from Hitchin commented: “It’s been really interesting, the speakers have made us think deeper about the subject and how it can become a career.” Meg Lewitt, 16 from Hitchin added: “They managed to apply the theory we’ve already learnt to real life situations.”
This was NHC’s first Access to Higher Education conference and proved a huge success with over 100 visitors attending. Congratulations go to the Access student committee for their hard work in organising the whole event.
