Access to Higher Education

Access to Higher Education courses are designed to prepare students for study at university.

Students have the opportunity to study a range of subjects that will provide a relevant foundation of knowledge. Through the study of these subjects, academic skills such as the ability to research, construct essays and reports, undertake group work and develop effective oral presentation skills, are developed.

The course also provides a supportive environment through an effective tutorial system to guide students through the process of researching and making decisions about their choices once they've completed the course.

North Hertfordshire College provides increasing opportunities for students to develop confidence and skills through participating in a range of extra curricula activities. For example, this year students have formed committees for fundraising, and designing and publishing an Access Newsletter. From 2012 students will be encouraged to engage in a range of pre-professional training sessions which again will enhance their employability as well as strengthen their application to university.
