Secondary school pupils from around Hertfordshire had a chance to come into the Centre For the Arts in Hitchin to enjoy a day of Theatrical Makeup and Costume design, Marketing, Set design and Sound and Lighting workshops. The workshops started at ten and ended with a performance showing all of the work the students have completed throughout the day.
The workshops all had the theme of ‘Puss in Boots’, which is the Performing Arts students’ pantomime this year, performed in Plinston Hall in Letchworth in December.
The students were able to pick fabric for a characters costume, work in pairs to have a go at designing their makeup, used the MACs working on illustrator to design the poster to advertise the Puss in Boots show, learn how to do set design and see how sound and lighting works.
One of the school pupils said: ‘I am really enjoying the day because it is fun and I am learning a lot’. Another added ‘we also get to see what college life is like and its getting us thinking about what we want to do in the future after school’.
