NHC’s Health and Social Care team celebrated on Saturday night as the Hydeout youth club project won the So Sharing category at the Pride of Stevenage Awards.
North Hertfordshire College Health and Social care department collaborated with Hertfordshire Constabulary, Stevenage Borough Council and Pro-Action to start up the new youth club in the Shephall area of Stevenage back in December 2011.
The youth club called ‘Youth DI’ provides a place for young people aged 11 – 19 to get involved in activities or just meet up with friends and socialise in a safe environment. The Health and Social Care department are staffing the project which enables NHC students to carry out work placements at the youth club gaining valuable work skills and experience.
Nadia Hodges, Head of Curriculum for Health and Social Care, Carla Payne , Stakeholder Engagement Officer and Health and Social Care student Miffy Lafferty collected the award along with ex PSCO Office Jason hart.
Nadia commented: “Everyone involved has worked so hard to make this project a success, the youth club has made a real impact within the local community and we’re extremely pleased to have received this award.”
