Health and Social Care students and staff hosted a communication event this week, inviting in guests from a whole range of different sectors.
Visitors represented sectors including the police, nurses, support workers, drug / alcohol workers, Social Workers, Nursery Managers, Theatre Nurses, Specialist Teaching Assistants, Foster Carers, Care Home Managers, Looked after children specialists and more.
Students undertook speed ‘interviewing’ activities in small groups, asking questions to find out each visitors profession and job role.
Charlotte Meldrum who studies Level 2 Health and Social Care commented: “Today helped me gain a lot of knowledge about future jobs and opportunities available in the health and social care industry.”
Jackie Storton, Senior Support Worker at Jenny Chapman House added: “The event was very well organised. Students were very receptive and staff friendly and welcoming. A very interesting event which I hope will help the students in their choice of employment for the future.”
Course Leader Carmen Brown concluded: “This was an excellent opportunity for students to gain knowledge of different roles within health and social care and to put their communication skills to use. We could not be more grateful to our guests for giving up their time to come in and collaboratively work with our students. There was a real ‘buzz’ in the air, students were very enthusiastic and an asset to the college.”
