The Edge Centre is NHC’s sports complex located at the Hitchin Centre and boasts a gym, conditioning studio, sports hall, squash court and 3G all weather pitch.
The Gym
The gym has a number of fitness machines, including five treadmills, two cross-trainers, three bike machines, as well as a large selection of weights and benches.
From 1st October, the gym will be open Monday to Friday for enrichment from 5pm – 7pm, and a staff only session from 7pm – 10pm. The gym will also be open on Saturdays from 10pm – 12pm.
All students and staff need to undertake an induction before using the gym, which will cost £5. The gym will then operate on a pay as you go basis, where each visit will cost £2. For more information, or to book your induction, please call 01462 424226 or email sport@nhc.ac.uk.
The Sports Hall and Conditioning Studio
The sports hall is home to a number of sports on offer at the Edge Centre. Visitors can book the hall for basketball, five-a-side football, netball, badminton, table-tennis and volleyball. Guests can also book the squash court.
A number of fitness classes are available in the conditioning studio, such as working with a personal trainer and a ladies only Body Confidence class.

Kids Holiday Activities
This October half-term, the Edge Centre will be running Kids Holiday Activities, running from Monday 29th October to Friday 2nd November. Each day will include sporting activities, team building exercises, cooking workshops, music workshops and more. Kids Holiday Activities will be from 9am to 3:30pm each day and is designed for children aged between 4 and 12.
Book for the entire week before 5th October 2012 for ONLY £60.00. NHC staff are eligible for a further discount however, costing only £10 per day!
