LGBTQ Week at NHC

26 January 2012 - sarah

The Students’ Union Executive Committee planned a whole host of events to raise awareness and celebrate Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning week.

Throughout the week there have been fashions shows and clothes sales, and students at Stevenage Skills Centre spelt out the letters LGBTQ for an aerial photo. Additionally, the SU Exec have been wearing and handing out t-shirts printed with the slogan ‘Homophobia is Gay’ in support of LGBTQ week.

Lee Patient, Students’ Union Executive Committee Vice President for Equality and Diversity explained: “There’s a lot of misunderstanding surrounding LGBTQ and it’s important that, as students, we celebrate the equality and diversity in today’s society. I decided to go for the post of Equality and Diversity within the SU Exec because I wanted to make sure that every student receives the same opportunities I’ve had. NHC has the strongest student voice I’ve ever experienced.”

The week culminates in a party at The SUB in Hitchin on Friday 27th January from 8.00pm – 1.00pm.
