A Level

North Hertfordshire College students achieved excellent results in 2012 with a 100% pass rate in Maths, English Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Law, Media Studies and Sociology, and an overall pass rate of 98%.

A Levels are a two year programme, in which successful completion of the first year leads to a qualification at AS Level. In order to achieve the full A Level, students must successfully complete the full 2 years of study.

A Level study at NHC is a great preparation for both university and the world of work. You can look forward to studying in a friendly atmosphere with excellent facilities and resources. Tutorials are an integral part of the AS and A Level programme and, as such, each full-time student is allocated a personal tutor who will monitor their academic progress and offer advice and guidance to help the student achieve the best possible results. All students will undertake employability skills and enrichment activities and receive guidance on opportunities in higher education and employment.

At NHC we offer a wide range of A Level subjects. We also work with local secondary schools and so you may be able to study a subject that we do not offer at college through them.

To study A Levels at NHC, you need to have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Mathematics. Study of AS Levels also requires the achievement of specific subjects and grades at GCSE, and you will be advised about this during your interview and at enrolment.

Renaissance

The Renaissance group is a collaboration between North Hertfordshire College, The ThomasAlleyne School, The Da Vinci StudioSchool of Science and Engineering, and The Da Vinci Studio School of Creative Enterprise.

By combining the expertise of these four established institutions, we are able to provide an opportunity for young people to develop the skills, attributes and experience necessary for success in their future careers. Uniting our resources means that we will offer a more varied curriculum which gives our students access to a wide range of specialist facilities and learning environments. We want to encourage our students to set goals, challenge views, debate and innovate.

We will make sure that our students are as prepared as possible for the future, whether it be to attend university, secure an Apprenticeship position, or start their own business.
